Virtual Workshop for Indigenous Community Youth

At Pueblo Science, our dedicated and passionate educators work alongside high schools harboring a significant indigenous student body to deliver STEM-based subjects in an engaging, hands-on manner.

Our mission is to help empower indigenous youth to become the leaders of the next generation in STEM and enhance their learning experience in ways that go beyond the limits of the classroom.

We will work with primary or secondary school teachers to identify topics and activities that  are most appropriate for their classes. Below are some topics that we have offered to secondary schools near Thunderbay :

Chemistry Electricity
  • Atomic properties
  • The Periodic table (Elements and compounds)
  • Classification and properties of matter
  • Homo-and heterogeneous mixtures
  • Lab safety
  • Physical and chemical properties
  • Physical versus chemical changes
  • The scientific model
  • Observing the units (volume, mass, conductivity, colour, temperature, time)  
  • Renewable and non-renewable energy sources
  • Charges: static electricity, induction, lighting
  • Units: Ohms, volts, amps
  • Simple circuits (source, wire, switch, loads)
  • Series and parallel circuits
