Science in the Community Volunteer

Pueblo Science engages the local community by bringing interactive science demonstrations to libraries, community centers, and street festivals. As a volunteer for our Science in the Community program, you will have the opportunity to participate in the many events that Pueblo Science runs throughout the year. We aim to give our volunteers the opportunity to develop their presentation and leadership skills by training them to deliver our experiments to a public audience. We are also looking for volunteers to join our support team – from photographer to graphic designers to bookkeepers!

Activities

Locations

The majority of programs are in Toronto and the GTA, but events have also been held in Kitchener-Waterloo and other locations in Southern Ontario. Our headquarter is centrally located at the University of Toronto downtown campus, where some of the teaching kit development, and orientation sessions take place.

“I really loved teaching the participants, especially when you know that they've understood the experiment. It's also very fulfilling to know that, in a way, you're reaching out to generations of Filipino students.”

“Interacting with the Jamaican teachers was the highlight of my trip. I felt that they truly want to improve the education system in Jamaica. Being a part of that forward movement is a big deal for me and I'm excited to see how it will progress.”
