Support Rural Initiative for Science Education (RISE) and help train effective teachers

RISE Program offers professional development training for science teachers and science camp for students in rural schools. Volunteers, both from Canada and from the local area, spend two to three days at each location to conduct workshops. Participating teachers are shown how they can include new experiments in their own classrooms and how the activities are relevant to their curriculum and communities.

As of 2016, RISE has been conducted in the Philippines, Thailand, Guyana, India, and Bolivia.

They will also learn how to put together the science kits using locally available materials. Experiments in Chemistry, Physics and Biology will be introduced as well as possible science fair projects and science magic tricks. Teachers will be provided initial sets of kits for their use in their classrooms after the training.

Our training is free for the teachers, except in instances where the local organizers provide food, in which case they may charge minimal amount to cover the cost of food and snacks during the event. If you are a teacher in these areas and would like to attend our training please e-mail us and we will put you in touch with the local organizer.

I enjoyed very much all your activities. Interesting, enjoyable, challenging and I assure you I will do my best to share it to my class. Thanks and God Bless.
