Pueblo Science has just completed their fourth annual Rural Initiative for Science Education (RISE) workshop series with four teacher camps and three student camps across the Philippines. Using locally available equipment and materials, the program has helped over 400 science teachers and 200 students from urban and rural locations learn fun hands-on science experiments for use in their own classrooms and homes. Examples of these interactive activities include a wind turbine that can power an LED, water filtration, and making slime from white glue. The team of volunteers, made up of current and former University of Toronto graduate students, have been posting pictures of these sessions on the Pueblo Science Facebook page. Look out for more details as the team returns to Toronto.
