Science Meets Art and Ice

Pueblo Science recently staged two events to show young Torontonians just how interesting and fun science can be: Science on Ice and Making Art with Science.

Science on Ice was attended by over 4,000 TDSB and TCSB students and their teachers during the intermission of the women’s hockey game between the University of Toronto and Ryerson University at the UofT varsity arena on October 3. The Pueblo team recreated an oversized version of the popular elephant’s toothpaste experiment and generated large, crowd-pleasing clouds on center ice by pouring hot water on liquid nitrogen. In addition to this half-time entertainment show, students were also able to tinker with science demos throughout the event, including a fire tornado, Van der Graff generator, lasers and phosphorescent screen, unmixing chamber, vanishing vial and mood patches.
